I returned to the Bohusleden walks by walking from Backamo to Glimmingen (in Uddevalla), a total distance of 32km. I traveled first from Göteborg to Ljungskile with bus line 810 in the direction of Uddevalla. Then I switched to bus 332 in the direction of Stenungsund and traveled to the Grinneröds kyrka bus stop. I arrived at 07:27 and the travel time was 2h2mins in total.
The walk itself can be divided into several parts. The first part of the walk is the 2km from the bus stop to the Bohusleden trail in Backamo. Then I walked 5km of the Bohusleden trail to reach the point where the Bohusleden trail splits. The Bohusleden trail either goes in the southern direction or the northern direction. During this walk I chose to walk 11km in the northern direction to reach the end of Bohusleden stage 11 between Hasteröd and Vassbovik. Then I walked Bohusleden stage 12 between Vassbovik and Glimmingen, a distance of 14km. The Glimmingen bus stop is located very close to the end of stage 12. The total duration of the walk was 9h36mins and my average speed was thus approximately 3.33km/h. I sped up my walking near the end as I hoped to make it on time for an earlier bus but alas I was about 7 minutes too late. I waited 29mins for the next bus.
I traveled back home first by taking bus 670 to Kampenhof in Uddevalla and from there I walked to the train station in Uddevalla and took the train back to Göteborg. The total travel time back home was 2h20mins.
This was yet another interesting Bohusleden walk although it certainly wasn't as wild as the previous Bohusleden walk between Söbbön and Svarteborg. The character of the walk varies quite a lot but the common denominator is that it goes through forests to a large extent. The first 2km of the walk from the bus stop to Backamo goes on an asphalt road with relatively high levels of traffic. That part of the walk was not very enjoyable because of that. Backamo itself has some interesting highlights as you can see in the photos. The next 5km go on a gravel road and although there's not much to see by the gravel road (except for the Södra fjället mountain court) I did manage to take some nice photos for that part. The next 11km are the most interesting part of the walk. This part of the walk goes through the Bredfjället nature reserve to some extent. The nature reserve has some beautiful mostly coniferous forests and remains of various crofts. The segment from Store-Väktor to the end of stage 11 also has many lakes including Store-Väktor, Bråtesjön and Buvattnet. Near the end of the stage and until Rörmadhagen the trail continues mostly through forests but this part of the walk also goes through small scale farm land or meadows. The final part of the walk continues mostly through forests (including a dark spruce forest). I think the photos will give a much better idea of the character of the walk than I can do.
But before presenting the photos I will mention a few other things. Firstly, the atmosphere for the walk was really nice. Compared to the previous walk it felt even more autumn-y (especially because the leaves started becoming yellow) and the morning mist at the start of the walk was also a nice addition. The weather cleared up later but it was cloudy for the most part. Secondly, the deer flies were an annoyance once again. There were relatively few deer flies in the beginning (they started showing up near the lake Store-Väktor) but near the end of the walk there were far more of them. Finally, it can be noted that I didn't have as much luck this time around when it came to seeing wildlife; I only heard one squirrel (didn't even see it).
Enjoy the photos!
